Jonathan Clutterbuck has just returned from Dumfries where he took part in the Inclusive Ice-skating Competition, incorporating the Special Olympics.
We are SPICE – Special People on ICE, operating from Absolutely Ice in Slough, Berkshire. We have been teaching children and young people up to the age of eighteen with additional needs how to ice skate since 2002. We started coaching ice hockey back in 2006 and now boast two ice hockey teams, SPICE Jets, coached by members of the Slough Jets, and our latest addition – a special needs synchronised skating team, Absolutely SPICE.
SPICE is funded by BBC Children in Need and member subscriptions.
We are delighted to announce that our synchronised skating team, Absolutely SPICE, which is supported by Absolutely Ice Arena, performed an exhibition routine during the 46th Annual Ice Skating Festival in Blackpool in April 2013 and received a standing ovation!
Our two ice hockey teams, the SPICE JETS, took part in the Special Hockey International Friendship tournament in Kitchener, Canada during March 2013 along with around 60 teams from the USA and Canada.
